Historic Fenway Park will play host to the first outdoor hockey double-header in the modern era. Hockey East perennial powerhouses will meet in the shadows of the Green Monster for a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Game 1 features Northeastern and UNH (women) for a 4:30 pm showdown. The BC and BU (men) square-off under the lights at 7:30 pm.The January double-header will feature a number of record setting events.

The showdown between Northeastern and UNH will feature the first outdoor women’s game in the modern hockey era. Attendance, for the two games, will be record breaking with stadium capacities exceeding 35,000. This is one Friday double-header you’ll certainly regret missing.

The Flyers-Bruins match at Fenway is apparently a done deal with an announcement due any day by the league. The league initially wanted Washington, but the network supposedly shot down the idea thinking the ratings would be better with the Flyers. No offense to the Flyers, but having the best player in the world (Ovechkin) in an event like this would have been a smarter marketing decision. If ratings were the driver, then why not have the Bruins play their biggest rival - Montreal? Me thinks Mr. Snyder is working hard behind the scenes here. About Celebration of Life

Celebration of Life is a full day of celebration, education and kinship for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) cancer community to raise awareness about the battle against cancer. This poignant event also welcomes men and women who receive their care from other hospitals in and around Boston – and beyond.

Since 1993, patients and their family members and close friends, along with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other cancer caregivers at BIDMC have gathered together for a daylong celebration in June. This inspiring event allows people living with cancer an opportunity to share their stories and learn from Harvard Medical School affiliated physicians, other community experts, and of course, each other.

“It’s the pinnacle of the year for those who have been touched by this disease, patients and healthcare professionals alike,” said Hester Hill Schnipper, LICSW, BCD, chief of oncology social work at BIDMC, and a breast cancer survivor. “Celebration of Life ‘puts a face’ on cancer, while providing hope to all that fight it,” Hill Schnipper adds.

Event Programs and Highlights
This year's Celebration will include more than two dozen symposia and workshops led by our very own BIDMC faculty and staff as well as other community experts. The event will feature an extended lunchtime discussion with cancer survivors hosted by WCVB-TV reporter and breast cancer survivor, Kelly Tuthill, lively music, art, and more opporunities for participants to share their personal stories.

a display of art, photography, sculpture and crafts created by cancer patients and members of the cancer community
a book of poems and writings
a silent auction and raffles

Boston, MA – On a mission to spread good vibes from coast to coast, The Life is good Company will once again take over the Boston Common on June 20, 2009, with a free-day-long family festival. From great music to good food – and all for a good cause – the Life is good festival is the place to be for all optimists…and those who want to be.

Life is good®, a Boston-based company that spreads good vibes through its colorful collection of apparel and accessories, has attracted more than 375,000 people and raised over $3 million for children in need through its nationally-known festivals. The free, outdoor celebrations feature great live music, classic backyard food, and a colorful mix of good-time games and activities for all ages. From seed spitting and Double Dutch to soccer kicks, tug-o’-wars and football flings, the Life is good Festival on the Boston Common is an invitation to free family fun and healthy play.

Funds raised through donations onsite and all profits from the sale of Life is good merchandise at the event benefit Project Joy, a nationally-recognized non-profit organization whose mission is to use the healing power of play to transform children impacted by violence, poverty and loss into healthy players in the game of life. The Norman B. Leventhal Walk to the Sea Showcases Boston’s History

Boston, MA–The Norman B. Leventhal Walk to the Sea (http://www.walktothesea.com/) is the latest addition to the free and accessible walking history of Boston; and this will be the first spring and summer season it exists for all to enjoy!

The Walk to the Sea encompasses four centuries of Boston history. Beginning at the State House on Beacon Hill, overlooking Boston's ancient Common, the Walk passes among historic landmarks and skyscrapers. The Walk crosses ground that, centuries earlier, was not ground at all but an active harbor. Boston's history is tied to the sea, whose smells and sounds once pervaded the town. The Walk from summit to sea, spanning one mile and descending a hundred feet, brings that history to life.

The Norman B. Leventhal Walk to the Sea will provide generations of students, tourists and history buffs a compelling glimpse of Boston and American history through ten exquisite glass and stainless steel panels along the walk’s one-mile route. The panels display images, maps and a brief history that tracks Boston’s transformation from a colonial port to a major urban center. It complements the city’s famed Freedom Trail and the many other historical sites that draw millions of tourists to Boston every year

Mayor Thomas Menino dedicated the Norman B. Leventhal Walk to the Sea in 2008.

The Walk is a one-mile journey that begins at the top of Beacon Hill. From there, the trails winds through Beacon, Tremont, Court and State Streets and ends at Long Wharf. Panels are located at these stops along the trail:
